Shelton Marshall Walters, son of Hohnnie and Lulr Walters, was born in Prescott, Arkansas on July 9, 1948. Shelton passed away at Medical Ciry Hospital on Thursday, November 11, 2010. He is now victorious over cancer and he has received the ultimate healing. His parents, one sister, and 5 brothers preceeded him in death.
Shelton accepted Christ as his personal savior and unitied with Union Grove Baptist in Bluff City, Arkansas until he relocated to Dallas, Texas and joined Carver heights baptist Church. Later, he became a charter member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church were he renained until his homecoming. Shelton loved his church family and served as a member of the Board of Trustees, the Senior Saints Advisory Board, and the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.
After he graduated from McRae High School on Prescott, Arkansas. He later graduated from Bishop College Dallas, Texas in 1971.
While in college he met and married the love of his life, his college sweetheart, the former Joyce Johnson. They were married on August 23, 1969 and to this union, Tony was born.
Shelton genuinely loved spending time with his family. He was always encouraging to do his best academically and spiritually. He regaled in telling Tony all the stories of his childhood. Shelton attended Tony's events and activities, planned family reunions, and enjoyed the annual with his brothers and male children. Among the things he loved were laughing, golfing, , and spending with his geandbabies at their sporting events, field trips, and on the golf course. If you ever spent any time talking to Shelton, you were aware that he was a genuinely devoted to, and proud of his grandsons. They loved "Poppy".
Shelton's career started in 1971 when he joined the Social Security Administration. He retire in January 2005 after 34 years of frderal service as Deputy Assistant Regional Commissionor of management and Operation Support.His duties included overall responsibility fror the operations of 356 Social Security Feild Offices and 32, 000 employees in Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, , Louisiana, Texas, and the Mexico International Border, and the Hpoi and Navajo Indian Reservations of Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. He leavs to mourn his passing and celebrate his life: his wife Joyce; son, Anthony "Tony" (Trina) Walters, two granssons, Trey marshall Walters, and Trenton Darnell Walters of Frisco, Texas; sister; Ethel Kirby of Chicago, Illinois, FrancisWilliams of Little Rock, Arkansas; brothers; Johnnie (Kizzie) of Prescott, Arkansas, Howard Walters (Dorothy) of Desoto, Texas; Horace Walters and Ernest Walters of Little Rock, Arkansas, Willie (Karen) Walters of Chicago, Illinois, Fred (Mae Ruth) Walters of Bluff City, Arkansas; mother-in-law; and a host of brother ans sister in-laws; neices, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, friends, and godchildren. Jackie (Gilbert), Gerst and Stacy Thomas.
